This is a multi-functional, newly created and very visible role for a growing, globally operating, German originated company in Furniture Hardware. Reporting directly to the Managing Director and being part of the company’s management/leadership team, this role is mainly based in Zhuhai, China in which you will take full responsibility for developing products and processes on their technical feasibility, development, cost & time, while remaining aligned with overall strategy and goals of the organization; Welfare packaged to be decided upon the result of interviewCore tasks and responsibilitiesCoordinates new product, process and automated equipment development projects within China and Internationally. Fosters solid partnerships with internal departments, stakeholders, sponsors and customers;Evaluates technical feasibility, design optimization and relevant process designs according DFM principles, resulting in maximum process efficiency, Machine utilization, OEE while maintaining the highest measurable quality output.Aligns development objectives with company and strategic goals and ensures team clarity on these objectives;Supervises a team of technical managers and development engineers and leads feasibility studies, design reviews, product, equipment and process development until mass production requirements are reached; Gathers relevant data and evaluates results; Supports manufacturing after mass production launch on technical issues;Performs development department budgeting and investigates, reviews, prepares and processes equipment and process investment requests; Maintains cost and budgets overviews for all PD projects; Provides detailed cost breakdowns of all cost aspects within development;Analyses and improves the company’s level of automation in manufacturing processes;Reviews piece flow analysis, capacity analysis, line balancing and approves process step output targets and headcount; Reviews product and equipment BOM’s, spare-parts requests, safety stock of spare parts and process step targets and ensures the correct data is inserted into the companies ERP system;Supervises and leads the line and equipment readiness and acceptance runs, internally and externally to reach & optimize equipment targeted specs;Leads weekly project liaison meetings with project management teams in the China and Germany and interacts with internal departments on technical, material and quality challenges, as well as headcount and output target requirements and deliverables;Develops and safe-guard the knowledge base of the company’s core competences, product portfolio, New development projects and processes;Support Quality complaint handling and process improvements when requested;Identifies and develops opportunities to internal and external scholarship and leadership; Candidate profile to this role Our ideal candidate has previously held a Development Management or other Sr. technical/engineering management position, preferably within a western company that operates within an international setting in China. As a person, you thrive in a collaborative environment and you are a detail-oriented leader with initiative, the ability to multitask and excel with minimum supervision; A structural process approach and knowledge of automated assembly processes are also essential to the success of this role. Occasional international travel may be required. PMP qualification or equivalent is considered as an added value;Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar leadership role, preferably for a western company in China;Solid experience in mechanical product development, Automated processes, strategic project planning, project costing & budgeting, risk management and/or change management;Extensive experience of either Punching, Roll-Forming, automated assembly equipment and processes or a combination hereof;Stress-resistant with the ability to express a great level of confidentiality;Superb communication and negotiation skills including an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese Mandarin; German language skills are an added value;Open-minded, presentable and professional appearance with a positive business attire;Practical, pro-active and resilient approach while willing to work according fixed processes and time-lines;Ability to create and read technical drawings, product, process and material specifications;Solid knowledge of CAD software packages, MS office and project software tools; This full-time position is open to local Chinese citizens (M/F) that possess above attributes or western nationals (M/F) that are willing to work on a Chinese local salary package.
